In some cases, businesses may already have a non-geographic number with another carrier.  When this happens the number may be ported to our network without the need to change your existing 0870, 0871, 0845 or 0800 number.

Porting is the process of moving the responsibility for the managing and the routing of an 0870 telephone number from one carrier (e.g. B T) to another (e.g. Cable & Wireless). 

Porting your number is a very simplistic process and designed to cause no interruption to your service.  In order to do this the following steps should be followed:

1. You first need to give us the authority to “port” from your current carrier. This is done by printing a "porting form” onto your company letterhead paper.   PLEASE SEE ABOVE LINK

NOTE: The document must be printed on your headed paper and all contact and address details completed exactly as on your last bill.

2. Once we have your signed authority, we will arrange for a date and time for the number to be ported with your carrier.

3. Switchover is arranged and takes place. The actual switchover takes seconds and is usually carried out after midnight. Or on weekends.
